Born in California, Maureen lives in Huntington Beach with her husband and two children. Maureen is no stranger to large animals. Since she was a young girl of 14 years, Maureen had been attracted to exotics animals. Maureen as traveled as far as Australia to volunteer with Earth Watch. There she assisted biologists with radio collaring kangaroo and banding birds. Maureen also helped with tracking a spiny any eater called a Echidna. Upon returning to the States, Maureen worked at Cougar Ranch Hill in Riverside. There she worked with lions and tigers from their birth until full grown. Rajah was one of the male tigers she helps raise. Rajah- seen in the picture below- learned to suck on the trainers thumb when only a pup and did so even as an adult. Maureen also assisted with the bears and their cubs at the Cougar Ranch Hill and sometimes the primates too.
I was born in Vancouver B.C., Canada. My love for animals and the environment started there and continued on when we moved to Corona Del Mar at the age of 7. We eventually moved to Costa Mesa, back when chicken ranches, orange groves, and wide open spaces were still the norm.
Our house eventually became known as the local miniature zoo. We raised racing and homing pigeons, chickens, ducks, guinea pigs, doves, parakeets, lizards, frogs, snakes, burrowing owls, tropical fish, and rabbits. My first pets were a calico cat and a mixed St. Bernard. I have always owned a dog throughout my life. Starting with a Cocker Spaniel my family owned at the age of four, the St. Bernard mix, an Irish Setter, a Gordon Setter, a Cockapoo, and a Beagle. I am presently the proud father of five: an all white male Shih Tzu named Ben and a female Boston Terrier named Cookie, and 3 cats: Sunny, Zig, and Lucky. Having retired from the Orange County Water District where I was Chief of Operations for several years. I helped start WF21 and the Groundwater Recharge System in Fountain Valley, both of which were the largest technologies of this type in the world. I attended Costa Mesa High School, Orange Coast College, and Santiago College. I obtained AA degrees in Environmental Studies and Utility Science. I also have two wonderful children and two fantastic granddaughters, ages 4 months and 4 years old. They’re the love of my life along with my wife Suzanne and our pets.
Michelle grew up in Anaheim and Huntington Beach with many types of pets. Her and her brother Alex had dogs, rabbits, fish, lizards, turtles, anything their Mom and Dad would let them have.
When she was a baby the family Doberman "Brandy" would take her on walks through the neighborhood in her baby walker... they were rarely apart. Brandy, thought of Michelle as her baby and treated her that way.
Because Of this early bond with animals, Michelle has always had a deep affection for all living creatures. In addition to her animal loving duties at Pet Minded, Michelle also works with special needs children and is a Massage Therapist. This makes Michelle one of our very special Pet Sitters, not only is she patient and caring, but she also knows all the right spots to scratch.
Michelle now has two cats, Sneaky a Black and White short hair and Nosey and Russian Blue mix. They are both three years old and love to watch their Jack Dempsy fish swim around the fish tank.

While at Cougar Ranch Hill, Maureen bought T.C. - her 120 lb asian leopard. At the time T.C. was a 25lb cub and Maureen raised T.C. until his passing at 16 years of age. After her work with lions and tigers and bears, Maureen helped with her family’s concrete business. She was instrumental in growing the company many fold. As of today their business has installed tens of millions of square feet of decorative concrete throughout Southern California. During her free time, Maureen likes to ride dirt bikes, ski, or relax on their house boat.

My love for animals started when I was 7 and adopted my first rescue, a parakeet named Happy. Other feathered friends I adopted were a parakeet named Valentine and a cockatiel named Punky. At 10 yrs old my love for cats blossomed. I loved my neighbors cat so much I would knock on their door and ask if Spud could come out and play! When his owners moved they gave him to me! Since Spud I adopted Fred, Yoko, Felix, and Kobe...all rescues. I realized I had been missing out on the love of a dog when I met a friend's Rottweiler Roxy. I fell in love and decided I needed a furry best friend. Dog's became my passion. I wanted to work with dogs so I volunteered at a no kill shelter as a dog walker. If I can save or foster a dog I will. So far I've been able to rescue 3 huskies and a pit bull. My fur kids are Oscar a giant Yorkie, Roxy a smiling Min Pin, & Kobe the cat. I started dog sitting for other military families while my husband and I were stationed at Camp Pendleton. It was a perfect situation! Families felt better their dogs were not kenneled & Oscar and Roxy loved new friends and sleep overs! Petminded gives me the opportunity to do my dream job...working with animals.
