Ever since I can remember I have always loved animals. I currently have two pets Romeo and Riley. Romeo is a 3yr old cat who I rescued and his name stays true to his personality - he has 3 neighborhood girlfriend cats who always stop by. Riley is my 5yr old pug, who I adore - she loves to snuggle with me at night. I am currently studying at Cal-State Long Beach to get my Master's Degree in Social Work. Aside for my deep love for animals, I also have a passion for working with children. I have spent the last six summers working in Russia with orphans. While social work is the career I am seeking, I definitely want to keep animals a big part of my life.
Lyndsay is a Mid-West girl born in St. Louis, Missouri. She has two passions in life, animals and construction. And the second brought her to Southern California where Lyndsay studied and attained her degree in Civil Engineering at Marymount University in Los Angeles. After graduation Lyndsay worked for Kimley-Horn & Associates, Inc. and the City of Cypress. After the economic turndown Lyndsay changed gears and realized her first passion- her passion for pets and to work with dogs and cats- was to be her life career. And now Lyndsay works part time pet sitting for Pet Minded and the other part caring for dogs and cats at a Veterinary Hospital. When Lyndsay was young her love for pets came when her best friend’s family rescued a German Shepherd mix named Snickers. Ever since that day Lyndsay became the neighborhood pet sitter and dog walker, caring for cats, birds, fish, and any pets people asked of her. She continued her love and went to horse camps in the summer. There she learned how to care for goats, and pigs as well as horses and in her own words “even found a love for cows!” When Lyndsay is not pet sitting she is volunteering with the German Shepherd Rescue, reading a novel, playing golf, or going for a run. But what she finds most relaxing is dog walking her favorite dogs: her neighbor’s lab and labradoodle! Ken is what we consider an animal lover to the core! Ken was born and raised in Oahu, HI, (which according to Pet Minded management is the most gorgeous place in the world!) And through a various course of events followed his love and passion for sea animals to Southern California to volunteer at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach! At the Aquarium of the Pacific Ken works as a Seal and Sea Lion trainer. Ken also helps out with their other animals and reptiles when needed. We asked Ken which animal is his favorite when interviewing him and he said simplify “[it is] the animal I am working with at the time, whether it be a bird or a dolphin.” In Hawaii when Ken was growing up his parents did not allow larger pets. So he grew up owning small animals such as birds, reptiles, hamsters, exotic fish, and seahorses. Still Ken could not go without spending time with dogs and larger pets. Ken was the little kid in the neighborhood always at other peoples’ homes playing with their dogs and cats. Whenever someone would go out of town Ken was the person the owners asked to look after their pets. When Ken is not volunteering for the aquarium or working for Pet Minded he is studying at CSU Fullerton! He wants to add a bachelor’s degree in psychology to his present degree- Science in Aircraft Maintenance. If you ask him why a second degree Ken would tell you “…in order to live my dream of one day becoming an animal trainer…”. Ken also enjoys sports in his spare time. Growing up he played a lot of soccer, basketball, volleyball, and surfed. He competed at the college level and redshirted for the El Camino College team. Aside from school sports, Ken has participated in the California Beach Volleyball Association, coached volleyball, and refereed basketball and soccer.
I was born and raised in Orange County and have lived in Cali all my life! I have always owned either dogs or cats! Beginning with a the cutest German Shepherd ever named Chelsea who was a rescue, my mom was driving and saw a random dog run across the street no owner no tag! I guess you could say she was my moms from then on! My dad had also brought home a full bread Pit bull who he also found! He named him Hondo, he became part of the family right from the start! The next of them some years later became the closest to my heart and my baby, my dad had purchased a pit bull from a litter of a close friend of his, she was so tiny and smelled like a little puppy! We all agreed to name her Taz because she was crazy just like a Tasmanian Devil! I now own two of the cutest cats ever, one that's in the picture! They are the Loves of my life!
While most children may have a dog or cat when growing up, Katie had horses, ducks, pigs, and chickens along with the normal dogs and cats. Born in Northern California, and raised on a farm, Katie had contact at a young age with animals that other children dream about. And has Katie grew so did her love for animals. She was a member of the United States Pony Club for 13 years. While there she learned basic veterinary technician skills: taking temperatures, measuring respiration and heart rate, and administering vaccines. As a high school student Katie was an active member of the Future Farmer of America. The FFA inspired her to volunteer at her local Gateway Farms Riding Stables. Katie also was a farm hand for a local farm that had 50 horses, 5 pigs, 10 dogs, and some peacocks. And to put the biggest feather in Katie’s hat, the owner trusted Katie- and only Katie- to care for the farm when they left town. Now that Katie is not living at home, she misses all her animals. When not working for Pet Minded Katie rides horses regularly and teaches kids to ride horses in Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa.
I am a proud mother of a beautiful one year old orange cat named Stella. I found her outside my apartment complex late one night and she changed my life. Stella’s little sister is a six month old Calico named Arra, short for Arrojada, which means fearless. I grew up with Spotty Rae, an Australian shepherd mixed with a beagle, she is now fifteen years old, and Saidie who is half Siamese and she is now twelve. They are the loves of my life and I love nothing more than playing and cuddling with them. But then they are sleeping, I get to enjoy my other hobbies which are knitting and crocheting. I am currently in school to become a veterinary technician. A career that was inspired by my princess Stella. I believe that our pets should not only receive the best care that is available to them, but they should get this care from people who truly love them and care for their wellbeing. I have always loved animals, the way they look at you like you are the most important person in the world, because to them, you are. They give you constant love and affection, and they never let you down, and all they ask in return is a lot of love, and of course food.
I have been in the pet care industry since 2003, including working in the Pets Hotel in Petsmart, dog park runs, dog walking and petsitting.
I have had pets my entire life, I adore animals!!! Just recently lost my sweet Golden Retriever "Bailey" after 16 yrs. I had 3 Himalayan cats of 15yrs. which I cared for 5 of those yrs. with daily insulin injections to treat their diabetes.
I have always had a genuine passion for all animals. Their innocence, loyalty, and unconditional love have always touched my heart. Caring for pets on a daily basis gives me contentment and joy!
When I'm not busy with animals, I'm caring for my family. I've been happily married for 24 yrs. and have 2 great teenagers, 16 and 15 yrs. Our family hobbies we enjoy together are camping and dirt bike riding in the desert.
I've been a resident of South Orange County since 1990, but grew up in Fountain Valley. I was born and raised in Southern California and have always been a California girl that loves the sunshine and being out in it everyday!
Amy is a mother of six: three ‘real’ children as well as three dogs. The four legged ones are Sonny, an 11 year old Yellow Labrador, Amico, a 7 year old Chocolate Labrador, and Elvis, a 4-year-old English Bulldog. All her life Amy has been raised with various animals. Aside from caring for her children and her own pets, her house is affectionately known to friends and family as the "Pet Motel".
Amy was a Jazzercize instructor and franchise owner for 11 years. And even with all that energy spent she still longs to be active. Amy currently enjoys mountain biking, running, yoga, and has participated in several adventure races and 24 hour mountain biking events. Along with raising her family and staying physically fit, one of Amy's passions is photography. What better subjects then her children, pets, and the great outdoors! And Amy helped manage the dark room at the Irvine Fine Arts Center for 5 year before coming to Pet Minded. Amy currently volunteers at the local animal shelter as well. If you get a chance be sure to ask her about the "cheetah story" from her youth. Amy is our South Orange County Team Leader and she loves caring for your small four legged ones or running your larger pets till they drop!
I grew up on a farm in the Midwest and have always been around and loved pets. I went to Drury University in Springfield, MO and have a degree in Exercise Physiology. I move to California a few years after college to pursue my love of fitness. I have lived in California for almost 12 years now and can't imagine living anywhere else. I started working with Pet Minded about 6 months ago. I started working as a part time job because it joined 2 of my favorite things, pets and fitness. I love being able to play with animals and be outdoors!
I was born and raised in Orange County and have always loved it here! I just finished three years of school at Sonoma State studying sociology. I have always been surrounded by animals and loved caring for them. I have spent the last five years working as an animal health care assistant in veterinary hospitals and now I enjoy pet sitting for Pet Minded!
One of my many passions is rescuing and fostering dogs. I began with my mom when I was in high school, and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences. Fostering has also given us four dogs of our own! Watson, Isabelle, Chiquita and Sugar. Some other interests of mine include fighting for animal’s rights and animal therapy.
I also have two cats of my own, Morgan and Fat Cat. Both being rescues, they each have amazing stories. While working at the Sonoma Humane Society, I came across a kitten who weighed less than a pound and was suffering from a horrible eye infection. After weeks of trying to save her eyes, they both had to be removed, and she is now my eyeless kitten! She has no idea she is blind and she enjoys eating, playing, cuddling and catching flies!
